MovieBrats Pictures
MovieBrats Pictures is an independent production company based in Erfurt and Berlin, developing, producing, or co-producing market-attractive, high-quality feature films and series, both live-action and animation. Founded in Berlin in 2015 and expanded with a new headquarters in Erfurt in 2022, MovieBrats’ heart beats for genre-oriented entertainment, ranging from high-concept animated films for the whole family to festival cinema where the vision of filmmakers and artists is palpable 24 times per second.
Among its previous productions are the multi-award-winning German-American sci-fi short film ASTERNAUTS (2012, directed by Marta Masferrer, with nearly 1 million YouTube views), the German-language mystery thriller LOST PLACE 3D (2013, directed by Thor Klein), the Russian-French-German drama ZOOLOGY (2017, directed by Ivan Tverdovsky), among others, awarded the Jury Prize in Karlovy Vary and Best Film in Cottbus and at the Fantastic Fest in Austin. Movies by MovieBrats have been featured in festivals such as Toronto, San Sebastian, SXSW, Palm Springs, Les Arcs, Busan, BFI London, Tallinn Black Nights, and Beijing.
Current projects include the German-language drama GEISTER (2024, directed by Hans Henschel), premiering in competition at the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival in 2024, and the 2D animated drama ADAM by Ron Segal and David Nasser (Oscar-nominated for “I Lost My Body”), exploring the theme of memory culture.
